BBQ Sauce

Hal’s Grubsteak was a restaurant located in Yuba City, California that has since closed. The restaurant was very well-known to locals as having the best BBQ sauce in town. During its hay-day it was the “in” place to grab a bite for lunch or dinner. Their BBQ Sauce is a bit different that your typical recipe and it still quite a coveted flavor.
Since the restaurant is closed, maybe someone has the exact recipe out there, but if you are looking for a copycat replacement recipe give ours a try.

Hal’s Grubsteak Copycat BBQ Sauce Recipe
1 can of peaches with juice
1 cup ketchup
2/3 cup white vinegar
1/3 cup soy sauce
1 1/3 cups brown sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons garlic salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil

In a large mixing bowl combine together all of the above ingredients in the order they are given in the recipe. If you are not using the sauce immediately, you can refrigerate it for up to 3 days. This sauce is great brushed onto chicken, steaks, ribs and especially hamburgers!

Next time you are looking for a sauce with a unique flavor all its own, give Hals Grubsteak BBQ Sauce a try. Who knows? It may become a favorite of yours, just like the residents in Yuba City.
